The Ombudsperson is in charge of protecting the rights of students, faculty, researchers and administrative and service staff against actions taken by the university鈥檚 different bodies and services, as stipulated within the framework of Ramon Llull University鈥檚 own Statute. The Ombudsperson's actions strive to improve university quality at all levels and are not subject to the mandates of any university authority. The office is governed solely by the principles of independence and autonomy.

On October 13, 2024, the ombudsmen and ombudswomen of the universities of the Catalan university system, meeting at the University of Girona, formed the Forum of University Ombudsmen of Catalonia (SIUCAT), without legal personality of its own and without profit motive.
The SIUCAT Forum is a space for collaboration, exchange and reflection, complementary to those that already exist and in which the ombudsmen and ombudswomen of the universities of Catalonia participate, both within the framework of the Xarxa Vives and in the State Conference of University Ombudsmen/CEDU. SIUCAT promotes joint action and the development of common strategies, as a space for debate and training, exchange of experiences, collaboration and shared work, and aims to contribute to the proper functioning of universities and to the improvement of university quality in all its areas, especially in the institutional and human spheres and in the defence of rights and freedoms, promoting discussion of the most significant issues that may arise in its activity and making proposals that are considered appropriate.
On May 7, 2025 the Sindicatura de Greuges de Catalunya, Esther Gim茅nez-Salinas i Colomer, and the Sindicatura de Greuges de la Universitat Ramon Llull, Llu铆s Comellas i Riera, signed the collaboration protocol between the Sindicatura de Greuges de Catalunya and the Sindicatura de Greuges de la URL to define a relationship framework to facilitate the coordination and collaboration of both institutions in cases and matters of common interest, within their respective competences.
