Honorary Committee
An honorary body that is provided for in the Statutes of the Ramon Llull Foundation and created by the URL Board of Trustees in February 2013
It comprises the former chairs of the Board of Trustees, the former rectors of the University and former trustees who nonetheless wish to maintain their links with the University, under the chairmanship of the current Chair of the Board of Trustees. It meets annually to keep up-to-date on how the University works.

He has a degree in Law and a postgraduate degree in Urban Planning Law. He has been a member of the Congress of Deputies, mayor of Sant Cugat del Vall猫s, member of the Parliament of Catalonia, vice-president of the Diputaci贸 de Barcelona and councilor of Territory and Sustainability. In the private sector, he has practiced law and is currently a partner of the firm Ineo Corporate, and was previously a partner at KPMG lawyers, among others. He has been associate professor of Global Environmental Governance at Blanquerna-URL. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the ETS de Edificaci贸n de Barcelona (UPC), of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Barcelona and of the Board of Directors of T煤neles de Barcelona y Cad铆 and Esade-Creapolis. He is Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Strategic Plan of ECOEMBES, of Cruz Roja Sant Cugat-Rub铆 and of the Advisory Board of Fundaci贸n Ayuda y Esperanza. Co-founder of the Food Bank of Catalonia, member of Climate Project, C铆rculo de Econom铆a, the Advisory Board of the Oncolliga Foundation, the Pere Tarr茅s Foundation and Alcaldes.eu.
Since December 2024, he is President of the Board of Trustees of the URL.

Dr. Gassiot Matas, a Chemist, was born in Barcelona in 1937. He completed his baccalaureate studies in Girona and earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Sarri脿 Chemical Institute (IQS). He later obtained another undergraduate degree in Chemical Sciences from Universitat de Barcelona and a PhD from Universidad de Madrid. He taught Analytical Chemistry for more than 40 years at IQS where he also served as its Director (1985-1994) and today as Professor Emeritus. He served as URL Rector from 1994 to 2002. He has been a Member of the Barcelona Royal Academy of Arts and Science since 2003. He has published more than one-hundred articles on chromatography and its applications in the organic analysis field. In 1973 he was granted the Research Award from the Fundaci贸n Vicente de Mendieta y Lambarri de Delica Arrastaria (脕lava, Spain). In 1978 he received the Tswuett Medal from the Soviet Union鈥檚 Chromatography Committee. In 1985 he received the Hewlett-Packard Spain Award for 鈥淟iquid Chromatography.鈥 In 1993 he was awarded the Narc铆s Monturiol Medal for Scientific and Technological Merit by the Government of Catalonia and then the Jaume Vicens Vives Distinction in 2008 from the regional government for the quality of his teaching. He also served as President of the European Federation of Catholic Universities (FUCE).

Llicenciada en Dret per la UB (1971), doctorada en Dret (1978) i diplomada en Psicologia Aplicada (1976) per la UB. Ha estat rectora de la 海角社区(2002-2012), vocal del Consejo General del Poder Judicial (1996-2001), cap de Relacions Institucionals del Departament de Just铆cia de la Generalitat (1995-1996), sotsdirectora de l鈥橧nstitut de Criminologia de la UB (1993-1996), membre del Comit茅 Cient铆fic de Pol铆tica Criminal del Consell d鈥橢uropa (1993-1997) i directora general del Centre d鈥橢studis Jur铆dics i Formaci贸 Especialitzada del Departament de Just铆cia de la Generalitat (1983-1993). Va exercir com a professora de Dret Penal a la Facultat de Dret Esade-URL (catedr脿tica des de 1996) i actualment 茅s directora de la C脿tedra de Just铆cia Social i Restaurativa de la Facultat d鈥橢ducaci贸 Social i Treball Social Pere Tarr茅s-URL. Tamb茅 茅s membre assessora de diversos consells, d鈥檈ntre els quals destaca el consell d鈥檃dministraci贸 del Banco Santander, el d鈥橢ndesa Catalunya, el Board de la European University Association o del diari ARA. 脡s autora de diversos llibres, entre ells 鈥淒ones a la Universitat. Cent anys de prohibicions鈥 (2010), 鈥淛usticia de Menores: una justicia mayor鈥 (2002) i 鈥淚ntroducci贸 al Dret Penitenciari. Teoria i pr脿ctica鈥 (1992). Des del 2022, 茅s tamb茅 S铆ndica de Greuges de Catalunya.
Ha rebut, entre d'altres guardons, la Medalla d'Or del Instituto Vasco de Criminolog铆a (2000), la Medalla d'or Cesare Beccaria de la Neue Kriminologische Gelleschaft (1999), la Gran Cruz de la Orden de Sant Raimon de Penyafort (2002) i el premi Internacional de Victimologia (2007). 脡s autora de nombrosos articles en llibres i revistes cient铆fiques nacionals i d鈥檃ltres pa茂sos i ha participat en multitud de confer猫ncies i tert煤lies en tv i r脿dio.
El 10 d'octubre de 2013 se li va concedir la Medalla d'Or de la URL.

Nascut a Badalona (1935). Membre del Patronat de la 海角社区(1996-2014). Empresari vinculat al sector de la construcci贸 i president del grup d'empreses de la fam铆lia. Va cursar el programa PADE (Programa d'Alta Direcci贸 d'Empreses), a l'IESE. Va desenvolupar la seva activitat principalment al territori espanyol i sud-americ脿. Vicepresident de la C脿mara de Contractistes d'Obres de Catalunya (CCOC), president de la Confederaci贸 Catalana de la Construcci贸, i representant de les empreses catalanes a la Confederaci贸n Nacional de la Construcci贸n vinculada a la CEOE. Membre del comit猫 executiu del Foment del Treball Nacional. Fundador de l'Institut Gaud铆 de la Construcci贸 i de la societat mixta Gestora de Runes de la Construcci贸. Ha format part de la junta de l'APCE. President de la Fundaci贸 Laboral de la Construcci贸 de Catalunya i membre de la Fundaci贸n Laboral Nacional. L'any 1985, amb motiu dels Jocs Ol铆mpics de Barcelona 92, va crear l'estructura organitzativa per desenvolupar les obres del sector de Montju茂c (Estadi Ol铆mpic, Palau Sant Jordi, urbanitzaci贸, etc.) i el pla d'empresa que posteriorment s'anomenaria "Anella Ol铆mpica de Montju茂c, S.A鈥. Ha estat membre del Consell Parroquial de Santa Maria de Badalona i president del Consell Assessor de l'Escola d'Arquitectura La Salle-URL.
El setembre de 2014 es va incorporar al Comit猫 d'Honor de la URL.

Nascut a Barcelona (1946). 脡s enginyer t猫cnic industrial per l'EUITI de Terrassa (1968). Va cursar un m脿ster MBA (M脿ster en Business Administration) a ESADE (1968-71) i va obtenir el Post Graduate Diploma a l'IESE (1976). Va ser professor d'ESADE durant 15 anys. Des de l鈥檃ny 2008 茅s president d'Inmobiliaria Colonial i des de 2010 茅s president de la Soci茅t茅 Fonci猫re Lyonnaise. Anteriorment, va ser president de Panrico, director general del Grupo Mutua Madrile帽a, president de la Fundaci贸 ESADE, membre del Ple de la Cambra de Comer莽 de Barcelona i president de la Comissi贸 de Pol铆tica Econ貌mica. Ha estat investit doctor honoris causa in Economics per la Constantinian University de Providence, Rhode Islands (EUA) i Honorary Degree per ESERP de Barcelona. Aix铆 mateix, 茅s professor honorari de la Societat Cient铆fica de Xile. Va ser president del Patronat de la URL (2012-2016).
El novembre de 2016 es va incorporar al Comit猫 d'Honor de la URL.
El 12 de gener de 2018 se li va concedir la Medalla d'Or de la URL.

Dr. Mart铆 i Roca was born in Tarragona and earned an undergraduate degree in Physics from Universitat de Barcelona, a teaching certificate from the same university, a degree in Religious Sciences from the Instituto San P铆o X (Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca) and a PhD from Universitat de Val猫ncia. He currently serves as Professor at 海角社区where he also carried out remarkable work as the first Vice-Rector for Research and Technology Transferal. He also served as President of the Acoustic and Electro-acoustic Control Committee of the Barcelona Olympic Games (1992) and Director of the URL 鈥 La Salle Department of Acoustics and Programme Director. He has served as Senior Researcher for numerous projects in the science and technology areas and has directed numerous PhD theses and technology transferral projects. He is affable and easy to approach, and knows how to encourage and motivate a vocation for research amongst his students. From 2002 to 2010 he served as Father Provincial for La Salle in Catalonia.
On May 10, 2011 he was awarded the URL Gold Medal.
In November 2019 he joined the Honorary Committee of the URL.

Nascut a Barcelona (1957). Doctor en hist貌ria de l'art per la Universitat de Barcelona i llicenciat en teologia per la Facultat de Teologia de Catalunya. Catedr脿tic de la Universitat Ramon Llull. Ha estat deg脿 durant quatre triennis de la Facultat de Filosofia de Catalunya, on continua exercint la doc猫ncia. President de l鈥橝ula Lul路liana de Barcelona, de la Fundaci贸 Llegat Roca i Pi de Badalona (que treballa en favor de persones vulnerables i excloses del Barcelon猫s Nord) i de la Fundaci贸 Catalunya-Am猫rica Sant Jeroni de la Murtra. Ha publicat diversos treballs d鈥檋ist貌ria, art, iconografia i simbologia. Ha impartit confer猫ncies arreu de Catalunya i tamb茅 a Romania, Col貌mbia, Rep煤blica Dominicana, Xile, Taiwan, Corea i Xina. Des de 2008 茅s director del setmanari Catalunya Cristiana i de l鈥檈missora R脿dio Estel. Rector de la parr貌quia de Santa Maria de Badalona i responsable de l鈥檃ntic Monestir de Sant Jeroni de la Murtra.

Nascut a Barcelona (1943). 脡s professor mercantil, diplomat en m脿rqueting per la Universitat de Roma i en Alta Direcci贸 d鈥橢mpreses per l鈥橧ESE. Va ser director financer (1964) i director de m脿rqueting (1969) de l鈥檃g猫ncia de publicitat Tiempo. L鈥檃ny 1972 va ser nomenat director comercial i de m脿rqueting de Fernando A. de Terry. El 1975 es va incorporar al Grup God贸 com a director comercial de La Vanguardia i m茅s tard va ser nomenat conseller delegat de Tele Expr茅s. Al 1978 va ser soci fundador i conseller delegat de Media Planning i l鈥檃ny 1994 va passar a ser vicepresident executiu. Actualment 茅s vicepresident d鈥橦avas Media Group que engloba, entre d鈥檃ltres, Havas Media, Arena Media, Havas Sports & Entertainment. Ha estat secretari general del Grup d鈥橝cci贸 Empresarial, president de la Fundaci贸 Espanyola del Cor, president d鈥橧ESE Alumni Association, vicepresident del Sal贸 N脿utic Internacional de Barcelona, vicepresident del FC Barcelona, i actualment 茅s membre de la Junta Directiva d鈥橲port Cultura Barcelona. Pel que fa a la seva vinculaci贸 amb la Universitat Ramon Llull, ha estat membre del seu Patronat (2012-2016) i president de la C脿tedra Ethos Ramon Llull (2008-2016). Va ser president del Patronat de la URL (2016-2020).
El novembre de 2020 es va incorporar al Comit猫 d'Honor de la URL.
El 8 d'octubre de 2021 se li va concedir la Medalla d'Or de la URL.

Born in l'Espluga de Francol铆, Conca de Barber脿 (1969). Dr. Josep M. Garrell is a computer engineer (UPC, 1992), doctor in electronics engineering (URL, 1995) and full professor of the URL at La Salle HTS of Electronics Engineering and IT. In 1992 he joined La Salle-URL, where he co-founded the Intelligent Systems Research Group and in 1994 he obtained a supercomputing grant from the Fundaci贸 Catalana per a la Recerca at the Carnegie Mellon University Supercomputing Center in Pittsburgh (USA). From 1998 he assumed various responsibilities in the Rectorate of the URL: secretary of the Research Commission (1998-2002); delegate of the rector for ICT (2000-2002); vice-rector for Research and Innovation (2002-2010); secretary general (2006-2012), vice-rector for University Policy (2010-2012) and rector (2012-2022). From 2014 to 2018 he was a member of the Parliament's Advisory Council on Science and Technology (CAPCIT) representing private non-profit Catalan universities. In May 2015 the General Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) appointed him as a member of its Standing Committee and from 2020 to 2022 he was vice-president. In 2016-2019 he represented CRUE at the General Assembly and on the Council of the European University Association (EUA). In 2019 he was appointed to the EUA Board for a 4-year term and was the first president (July 2020-September 2022) of the Strategic Alliance of Catholic Universities (SACRU), a network formed by eight Catholic or Christian-inspired universities from around the world dedicated to excellence in research and teaching, engagement and global collaboration. In April 2023, he was elected President of the USA for a four-year term (2023-2027).
Since October 2022 he is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ramon Llull University.

Born in Barcelona, his life has been spent between Barcelona and Rome. He was ordained in 1964 and earned a PhD in Theology from Pontificia Universit脿 Gregoriana in Roma. Salvador Pi茅 has developed a profound academic task as professor of Fundamental Theology and Ecclesiology at the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Co-founder and general consiliary of MUEC, he was president of the Religious Services of the Barcelona Olympic Games, member of the Scientific Committee of the Congress on the Second Vatican Council (1995-2000) and expert appointed by the Pope of the Synod of Bishops on "The Word of God in the life and mission of the Church" (2008). He has been president of the Blanquerna Foundation from 1981 until 2022 and founding member of the Ramon Llull University (1989), of which he has been secretary until 2022. Since 2013 he has been rector of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. Among his numerous publications are: Diccionario de Teolog铆a fundamental (2010), 贰肠濒别蝉颈辞濒辞驳铆补&苍产蝉辫;(2015), La Teolog铆a fundamental (2017) and Teolog铆a fundamental (2017).
On May 10, 2011 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Ramon Llull University.

Actualment 茅s president de l'Hospital Cl铆nic de Barcelona, membre del Patronat de la Fundaci贸 Gaspar de Portol脿, compromissari del Casal dels Infants, vicepresident de la M煤tua Midat Cyclops i conseller d'empreses del sector qu铆mic i alimentari. Pel que fa a la seva vinculaci贸 amb la Universitat Ramon Llull, ha estat membre del seu Patronat de 2000 a 2004 i de 2019 a 2023.

He holds a degree in Law, has been a professor in the field of Roman law at the University of Barcelona for more than 30 years and is currently working as a Partner of Counsel for the firm MES Advocats i Gesti贸. During his professional career, he has held various management positions, such as Deputy General Manager-Secretary General at "la Caixa" in Barcelona, Deputy General Manager at "la Caixa" and Director of the Fundaci贸 Centre d'Estudis Internacionals of the University of Barcelona, among others. He has also presided the Fundaci贸 Privada Hospital de l'Esperit Sant, Abertis Log铆stica and has been a member of the Economic Affairs Council of the Archbishopric of Barcelona. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of several companies and a member of the Board of Trustees of several institutions. From 2002 to 2019, Millet presided the Pere Tarr茅s Foundation and represented this institution on the Board of Trustees of the Ramon Llull University Foundation. He was Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the URL (2020-2024).
He joined the Honorary Committee in December 2024.

He is an educator and holds a degree in Philosophy and Letters. He joined the Society of Jesus in 1970 and was ordained priest in 1977. President of the Servei de Col貌nies de Vacances and founder of the Escola de l'Esplai de Barcelona, he participated in the consolidation of the Coordinaci贸 Catalana de Col貌nies, Casals i Clubs d'Esplai and promoted youth associations through the Taula de Joves de Catalunya. He has been general director of Youth of the Generalitat de Catalunya (1980-1989), general secretary of the Fundaci贸 Escola Cristiana de Catalunya, member of the Board of Trustees of the Fundaci贸 Pere Tarr茅s and chancellor-secretary of the Archbishopric of Barcelona. In 2004 he received the Civic Performance Award from the Fundaci贸 Llu铆s Carulla and in 2014 the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded him the Creu de Sant Jordi. He has participated in the Fundaci贸 Relleu and in the Board of Trustees of the Instituci贸 Cultural del CIC. In 2010 he coordinated the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Barcelona to consecrate the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia. In the period 2010-2024 he chaired the Board of Trustees of IQS CETS Fundaci贸 Privada and represented this institution on the Board of Trustees of the 海角社区Fundaci贸.
In February 2025 he joined the Honorary Committee of the URL.
